10 Simpsons video games you didn’t know existed

The simpsons is almost a genre of video game in itself, as there are over 25 video games about the yellow characters. Although there hasn’t been a new family game since the mobile game Typed in 2012, there’s a whole library of titles to revisit, and more that fans have probably never heard of.

The simpsons The games often follow a similar formula, as they borrow from other popular games, whether skate or racing titles, and give them their own twist. The other constant between them is that they’ve been forgotten for a long time, and while that’s understandable for many titles, not all of them should be.

ten Bart’s Nightmare (1992)

Bart's Nightmare Video Game

Bart’s nightmare is probably the most original game in the Simpsons cannon. It doesn’t rely too much on parodying other shows and movies, and it doesn’t borrow much from other, more established video games, which other games in the world do. Simpsons the franchise did.

Players control Bart as he tries to collect his homework from his nightmares. Even though it’s one of the oldest games in the series, it’s still one of the best, and it even got a sequel, Virtual Bart. And while there are living mailboxes and magic gum in the game, the most unrealistic thing about it is the idea that Bart ever did his homework.

9 The Simpsons: Road Rage (2001)

Simpsons: Road Rage

The Simpsons: Road Rage laid the groundwork for what was to come next on the PlayStation 2 regarding The simpsons games, because it was the first of many to emulate another hugely popular game. The crown jewel of all is The Simpsons: Hit & Run, which was a very family version of Grand Theft Auto, but what happened before was Road rage, a clear imitation of Crazy Taxi.

The objective of the game is to collect the members of Springfield and get them to their destination as quickly as possible. And it gives players the chance to play characters that haven’t been playable in any other game, including Grampa and Reverend Lovejoy.

8 Bart Simpson’s Escape From Death Camp (1991)

Simpsons Escape From Camp Deadly Video Game

Escape from the deadly camp is largely based specifically on the episode “Camp Krusty”, and although his name is in the title of the episode, Krusty The Clown does not appear in the game, which is unfortunate.

The game is surprisingly quite free from this classic Simpsons humor, and the gameplay is not the best. He follows Bart and Lisa who try to do what he says on the box, escape Camp Deadly, and Bart is armed only with a boomerang.

7 Bart and the Bean (1994)

Bart and the Beanstalk Video Game

Another portable game for portable consoles, Bart and the bean is a parody of the classic fairy tale. In the game, Bart is once again the protagonist, as he’s in the role of Jack, and the story is almost identical to the fairy tale, with Homer playing the giant.

The game did not receive the best reviews and it almost suffered from being overly ambitious in that it would have been better suited for a proper console due to the screen so narrow.

6 The Simpsons Skateboarding (2002)

The Simpsons Skateboarding

Create a skate game in the world of The simpsons It’s a bit of a stretch, as the only way extreme sport connects to spectacle is to see Bart occasionally run through Springfield on a board, and even then it’s rare.

But while skateboarding games were at their peak in popularity in the early 2000s, it was only a matter of time until The simpsons made something of it. It was overwhelmingly negatively received by critics, as the gameplay was slow and the objectives were almost the same as in the Tony hawk Games. But it was still fun seeing the different character decks and trying out their signature tricks.

5 Bart Against the World (1991)

Bart vs The World Video Game

With so many games based on The simpsons and literally hundreds of fascinating characters on the show, it’s almost like a missed opportunity that most of them introduce Bart as the protagonist.

But it makes sense why, because he’s the most outgoing, prankster, and active character, which makes him the perfect video game protagonist. And although Bart against the world is yet another game led by Bart, this is one of the best, as it takes place like a treasure hunt where players search the world for hidden objects. It’s also the only game where players can control Bart’s alter ego, Bartman.

4 The Itchy & Scratchy Game (1995)

Itchy and Scratchy Video Game

Perhaps the best game to launch on the Super NES in the 90s if fans just wanted to let off steam after a long day of work or school, The Itchy & Scratchy game sees players controlling Itchy in his mission to kill Scratchy.

The game has generally been poorly received, and the over-the-top ridiculousness of it can only be fun for so long until the iconic Itchy & Scratchy the theme melody gets squeaky, but it’s fun to relive the best episodes of the Tom & Jerry parody until it happens.

3 The Simpsons Cartoon Studio (1996)

The Simpsons Cartoon Studio

The Simpsons Cartoon Studio is the closest thing fans can come to creating their own episode of the series.

Less game than a simulator, Cartoon studio is a PC game that allows players to create their own scenes, as the game comes with a bunch of different backgrounds, series props, and plenty of characters to play with. Characters even have their own sets of actions, so players can, in theory, create something totally unique.

2 Bart Against the Mastodons (1992)

Bart vs. The Juggernauts Video Game

The simpsons has parodied popular TV shows countless times in the past, and almost all episode titles are puns of famous movies and TV shows, but Bart against the behemoths is one of the few games to parody television entirely. The video game sees players take control of Bart as he takes on the titular antagonists, based on American Gladiators.

Only released on the Gameboy portable console, Bart vs. the Juggernauts was actually quite well received, as all Gladiators– mini-games based on enough variety to fill the whole game.

1 The Simpsons Wrestling (2001)

The Simpsons Struggle

Being yet another game borrowing heavily from other established video game franchises, The Simpsons Struggle is basically WWE with a Simpsons skin.

While it’s not the highest-rated game in the world, it’s still fun to face off against random characters from the series, like Moe vs. Krusty, and oddly enough, the game’s main character is actually Groundskeeper Willie.
