Elite Wrestling and AEW have announced the creation of a brand new games division, AEW Games, for new players to the stagnant world of professional wrestling video games. Last year, WWE veteran game developer Yukeas confirmed he was working on a new console game for his WWE rival, AEW. AEW’s executive vice president spoke about the potential of video games at the start of Elite Wrestling, but to date very few games have been announced.
Elite Wrestling (AEW) executive vice president Kenny Omega has announced new details about the company’s upcoming console game. In an interview with IGN Japan, Omega revealed that the game will feature a single player campaign, multiplayer mode, create a wrestler mode, and various other weird modes. The all-new games division AEW Games also took the opportunity to announce its first three releases during the live broadcast unveiled with AEW Executive Vice Presidents Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, referee Aubrey Edwards and the professional wrestler Dr. Britt Baker.
All Elite Wrestling announced in November that its first console video game was being developed by Japanese game developer Yuke, who was also the director of the WWF Nintendo 64 classic – No Mercy, Hideyuki “Geta” Iwashita. In the first episode of AEW Games’ Series 2 YouTube show, AEW World Champion Kenny Omega answered some of the biggest questions about the game to come.
At the event, it was also announced that former WWF Mercy Director Geta has joined the team and will be the driving force behind the development of the upcoming AEW video game. Also confirmed to Kenny Omega, current AEW World Champion, the developers working on the game will work with Hideyuki Iwashita, the Creative Director of WWF Mercy. Omega has said he wants the game to be as fun as WWF Mercy, but with professional virtual wrestling, and it looks like it will play on WWE 2K Games’ AKI engine, which is based on Mercy.
AEW Games has released the latest episode of its video game show. Fans saw exclusive console games teased by AEW on its social media sites the day before which featured Darby Allin in the official Elite Wrestling video game. During Episode 2Show, Allie Bunny and Aubrey Edwards shared a preview of the first AEW gameplay material for the upcoming AEW console game, which is being developed by Yuke and included the first look at his character model.
The video itself says the footage was taken during the game’s development, which is an early guess. An earlier preview of the untitled game was shown last November, but it was all about the engine and consisted of modified scenes. The new footage is the first look at what the game will look like in action.
The trailer offers a first look at the gameplay, with Darby Allin’s character model and a brief moment of the pro wrestler in action.
AEW has yet to give a specific release date for its next console game, but it should be released soon. For AEW, it’s the first console video game to have another feather in its cap. AEW Games’ official YouTube channel features new episodes of 2Show, which keep fans up to date with what’s going on in their department and what they can expect in the coming months.
Announcing the founding of AEW, Kenny Omega revealed that his first game will be produced by Japanese developer Yuke. Omega has selected Yuke and veteran wrestling game maker Hideyuki “Geta” Iwashita, formerly of Genius of Mercy and Nintendo 64, as advisors. The game will be played at an AEW-themed casino, and it looks like it will include a ton of AEW brands and wrestlers. When the video game was unveiled in November, it was announced for current and next-gen consoles.
The company is the official developer of the game, which could prove to be the next big breakthrough in wrestling games. At this point, we know that they will be launching the games’ main campaign mode, where you can create a wrestler, and they will also have different unusual modes.
The first images of their upcoming video game were shown live on AEW Games’ YouTube channel, which featured a number of trailers and images from the game. First, they showcased the game, claiming have completely reinvented what games could be. Yuki, who worked in the WWE factory for over two decades, had bad and good facilities, and he explained that the gameplay will focus on rigorous simulation.
