Coffee Talk developer accuses publisher PQube of embezzling funds

And delay A Space for the Unbound accordingly.

Coffee talk developer Toge Productions has accused publisher PQube of embezzling funds, delaying a game called A space for the unrelated at a time.

The Indonesia-based developer claims that PQube used its “position and heritage” to apply for a diversity fund grant from a “well-known console platform” and did not pass on those funds.

“The Diversity Fund was a grant fund to help underrepresented game developers, especially during the pandemic,” Toge Productions wrote as part of a larger statement. “However, instead of giving these funds to the developers as the grant was intended, PQube Games intentionally withheld information about the grant and used it as leverage for its own commercial gain.

“Rather than giving us the grant money, PQube Games hid the facts about the grant award and added it as a minimum recoverable security, then used it to negotiate the increase in its share of We only found out the actual amount of these funds and where they were going in March 2022.”

Toge Productions went on to say that they were “absolutely heartbroken” by the situation and had “finished [its] contract with PQube Games”. Due to the situation, PQube “refuses to relinquish control of the publication” of A space for the unrelated on consoles, Toge will therefore delay its release “so that we can make further arrangements and ensure that it is released as planned and in a manner consistent with our values and those of our community”.

PQube Games said it “honored all obligations of our publishing agreement and supported Toge Productions at every stage of product development throughout their delays and difficulties,” in a response to VGC,

“This support has included the provision of significant additional funding, in addition to grants, to support development, porting and commercialization.

“Toge Productions has sought for some time to unilaterally apply unreasonable revised terms to our agreement and it is disappointing that, in failing to achieve this and despite PQube’s significant efforts to accommodate this, they have sought to deal with the matter in this way.. We will respond through the appropriate channels.
