While we were all gushing out The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience, a veteran game developer remembered when he developed the 2003 video game Enter the matrix at Shiny Entertainment.
Chandana Ekanayake, now co-founder and creative director of Outerloop Games, tweeted that he was having fun watching the awesome Unreal Engine 5 demo on PlayStation 5 and comparing it to its development time. Enter the matrix for PlayStation 2 (it was also released on GameCube, Xbox, and PC).
The new Matrix experience in UE5 on PS5 is fun to watch and compare to my working time on Enter the Matrix on PS2. It started from afar pic.twitter.com/nsVJEdzWDc

In a separate tweet, Ekanayake and many of his followers noted that parts of the demo looked like Enter the matrix levels. He further revealed that Shiny Entertainment’s PS2 character models were built using 3D scans of the actors with patch modeling techniques. However, the number of fixes was limited due to hardware limitations at the time.
The Unreal Engine 5 demo features very realistic digital replicas of Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss.
Have our readers played Enter the matrix and find similarities in the demo?
