Hellblade 2 Development Footage Reveals Accurate Birdfall Simulation

Senua’s next saga: Hellblade 2 will feature an intricately detailed world, with precise bird droppings smeared on the cliffs.

Next development pictures Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 reveals that a commitment to realism even extends to the sequel’s bird droppings. The upcoming indie adventure is a sequel to 2017’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, which saw the titular warrior fight through a dark fantasy world inspired by Norse and Celtic mythology. The trailers suggest Hellblade 2 will be truly next-gen, with precise bird poo that apparently adds to the level of immersion.

Although it is an indie game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was highly praised for its impressive graphics and presentation. The title lets players explore a unique fantasy world inspired by Norse and Celtic myths, and its environments and characters are rendered in truly stunning detail. A post-launch PC update for Senua’s Sacrifice pushed the graphic envelope even further with ray-tracing lighting, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 seeks to offer an even more amazing world. The upcoming sequel will bring the Norse and Celtic world to life using next-gen console technology, allowing the fears and demons of Senua to render with added realism. Realistic weather graphics in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 shows some truly impressive technology, but the precise bird poo is even more amazing.

A Twitter post from the developer ninja theory shows the process of creating an accurate bird poo in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. The video shows a cliff buzzing with birds, which would realistically be covered in the droppings of feathered creatures. Apparently using reference material, Ninja Theory is able to achieve a high level of realism by sprinkling white bird poo all over the foggy view. This process seems to go much faster with in-depth developer tools, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be much more immersive thanks to the fecal matter.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Achieves Disgusting Realism

The upcoming sequel will build on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice already impressive graphics, and battles in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 should also be widely approved. While the first game was highly praised for its presentation and story, it was criticized for its combat system. Many felt that the fighting in Infernal Blade was simplistic and repetitive, with a lack of enemy variety compounding these issues. Ninja Theory apparently addressed these concerns in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2with combat training video showing more intense movements and brutal animations.

The graphics in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice were incredibly impressive, especially for an indie game, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 seems to be even more photorealistic. Small environmental details, like layers of bird poop on a misty cliff, will add an extra layer of immersion to the upcoming sequel. Ninja Theory knows how to create a complex game world and precisely locate bird poo in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is just the icing on the cake.
