We’re almost in the middle of 2021 – believe it or not. As we anticipate what will hopefully be a six-month absence from the old COVID restrictions, and scorching temperatures at least here in the UK, two new titles are being offered free to those with Xbox Live Gold.
These titles are Shadows: awakening and, perhaps the flagship act of the Games with Gold lineup of June 2021, NetherRealm’s Injustice: God is among us. Of course, these games are accompanied by The king’s bird – an omnipresent gift throughout the month. However, a title must go down the drain – say goodbye to NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, we will miss you !
2018’s Shadows: Awakening brings players another taste of the Heretic Kingdoms saga, delivering a delightful isometric RPG to experience solo. The real-time combat on offer will constantly test your ability to micromanage your group of heroes, using their skills in your continued quest for world domination! You see, in a unique twist of the norm, you take on the role of the wicked, as the Summoned Devourer of the Shadow Realm; in order to dominate the heretical realm, you must defeat the brave heroes tasked with ending your evil.
Shadows: Awakening certainly has a great mix of world building mechanics and gameplay, and grab it for free on the Xbox Store by July 15, you’ll save £ 24.99.
While it may be an older one, Injustice: God’s Among Us is definitely a goodie, and is playable on your Xbox Series X | S or Xbox One thanks to the power of backward compatibility. Or if you’re still banging around with an Xbox 360, then this one is for you too!
Taking an alternate route in which Superman goes awry, killing the Joker and then standing up against Batman, the stage is set for one of the best superhero plots in history. Such a strange climate creates equally strange relationships – who would have thought that Batman would team up with Harley Quinn ?!
Socket Mortal combatThe classic 2D combat setup of, Injustice also adds environmental interactions, ultimate abilities and, of course, a range of combos to master, and however you play it – via story mode, local multiplayer or so. you take things in line – injustice is always a satisfying ‘easy to handle, hard to master’ business. Using the Xbox Store, you can buy Injustice: God Is With Us by the end of the month (so hurry!) for another saving of £ 24.99.
So, whatever your thoughts on the Games with Gold program, you can’t laugh at the extra £ 50 of free games to come. As always, let us know in the comments below if you’ll be playing it, if only to escape the heat!
