Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Shubman Gill believes his side can still manage to make the playoffs once the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) season resumes. Even though KKR didn’t have a good run in the first phase of the 2021 IPL, winning just two out of seven games, Gill said he remains hopeful his team will advance to the playoffs.
“I think a break was really important. Sometimes things like that happen that you don’t expect. I think we’re very much in contention to finish in the Top 4. No matter which team qualifies, we don’t. never know what’s going to happen. So hopefully we win the remaining games, make sure we qualify and then we’ll see where we go from there, âGill said on the KKR official website. “If we keep doing what we’ve been doing for the past few years and just enjoy our game, then there’s no way that we won’t be successful or not qualify,” he added.
The 2020 edition of the IPL saw KKR come very close to qualifying for the knockout stage. After finishing fifth due to a not-so-healthy net execution rate last year, KKR will want to change fortunes this time around in the UAE. IPL 2021 will resume with Mumbai Indians locking horns with CSK on September 19. The final match of the Championship phase will be played between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Delhi Capitals on October 8th. (ANI)
