Knight to miss India Series after undergoing hip surgery

England skipper Heather Knight will miss the home series against India next month as she has undergone hip surgery and is expected to remain out of action until the end of the year.

Knight, who is missing the current season of The Hundred, is also expected to be left out of the Women’s Big Bash to be played in October.

“Surgery (tick) Had a little hip cleaning to get myself back up and running soon,” Knight wrote on her Twitter Friday alongside a photo of herself in the hospital.

”Unfortunately, this excludes me from the Indian series and the WBBL, but I aim to be back by the end of the year. It’s time to make the most of some time and start the detox! ‘, she added.

The 31-year-old was injured in the first T20I against South Africa in July. She had to take injections on her hip joint for pain during the series.

Although Knight was part of Birmingham’s Commonwealth Games squad, she did not play a single match. Nat Scriver led the English team, which failed to finish on the podium at home.

India and England are due to play a series of white balls comprising three T20Is and as many ODIs, starting September 10.
