Billboard Music Awards will provide first-ever NFT award

Trae tha Truth receives the Change Maker Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. To honor this recognition, the Awards teamed up with Trae for the awards ceremony first NFT. Three NFTs commemorating the occasion are sold on Bitsky and proceeds from the sale will benefit the artist’s Angel by Nature nonprofit, which brings community relief to the Houston area.

Snap launches AR Spectales, pushes further into fashion / e-commerce, and buys WaveOptics

During this week’s Snap Partner Summit, CEO Evan Spiegel announced the release of a new Glasses which include AR capabilities and which are only available to a certain number of creators. Carolina Arguelles of Snap also gave everyone a sneak peek at some of the current collaborations Snap has underway with fashion brands like Piaget, Farfetch, MAC and Prada as Snap continues to integrate AR and e-commerce and pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with AR, retail, and even virtual fashion. Snap also announced the acquisition of WaveOptics for more than $ 500 million. WaveOptics is Snap’s display provider.

Dimension Studio presents AKUMA, a short film created in Unreal Engine Staring MetaHumans

Dimension Studio, in collaboration with Vicon motion capture systems has released a preview of the AKUMA short film about a samurai meeting his demon. The release is scheduled for June 2021. The film is created using Unreal engine and stars of virtual humans created using Unreal’s photorealistic Creator MetaHuman.

New Virtual collaboration: “Fortnite X NBA: the crossover”

The “NBA Welcome Hub” will open on May 25 as NBA thematic experience in FortniteCreative fashion from. “Fortnite x NBA: the crossoverwill also include NBA outfits for all 30 teams, the ‘Team Battles’ competition, NBA player-themed ‘Locker Bundles’ and more. Fortnite and the NBA have been discussing the possibility of working together for almost 2 years and are now talking about future collaborations.

Audi Spinoff Holoride to launch NFTs and use Elrond blockchain

In-vehicle XR passenger entertainment experience Holoride, syncs with vehicle movement and location, so VR content adapts to vehicle movement. the Audi spin-off plans to use the Elrond Blockchain and NFTs to get developers to create more content for the platform.

Roomkey to host social entrepreneurship festival with Biz Stone

May 27 Twitter RoomKey co-founder and investor Biz Stone will host the “Social entrepreneurship festivalTalks about social entrepreneurship during the pandemic. Roomkey intends to host themed shows around topics such as entrepreneurship, venture capital, musicians, diversity, podcasts, fundraising, and more. Room key intends to focus on more intimate gatherings with its limit of 40 avatars, with an option to broadcast conversations live to the outside world.

Rook Perfumes publishes an NFT fragrance with the project “Scent The Metaverse”

This week Deutsche Telekom published Futureproof project, a platform to help Generation Z identify future careers and discover skills. The project was endorsed by Billie Eilish and encompasses a wide range of digitally focused and tailor-made youth support initiatives across Deutsche Telekom’s European footprint. The project was developed in collaboration with Generation Z contributors and skills and employability experts. Will the young people of today be the future leaders of tomorrow?

Snap brings Disney magic to selfies

Disney Parks and Break collaborate with new Snap lenses to bring augmented reality to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. AR selfie effects include holding Disney park virtual balloons, wearing Mickey Mouse ears, and hugging a virtual Mickey Mouse. This is a significant addition to the Disney Parks and their ongoing efforts to create the Disney Metaverse.

Launch of Metaverse Alliance in South Korea

Ministry of ICT of South Korea launches metaverse alliance between 17 of the country’s industry leaders, including a wireless operator SK Telecom, Korea Association of Mobile Internet Businesses and Hyundai engine. The alliance will collaborate on ethical and cultural practices as well as on the sharing of technological trends such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, 5G and cloud computing to launch metaverse development projects.

Swedish singer Zara Larsson released the album “Poster Girl: Summer Edition” on Roblox

the Dance party themed experience includes mini-games, exclusive merchandise, emoticons, a set of avatars and more. Zara Larsson avatar performs a selection of tracks, including her new album title song, “Poster Girl,” as well as the older songs “Lush Life” and “Never Forget You.” Jon Vlassopulos, Vice President and Global Head of Music for Roblox, said, “Roblox launch parties continue to be the best way for artists to reach millions of fans in one weekend, connecting them with their music in unprecedented fun, interactive and immersive ways.”

  • During this week’s Google I / O, Google unveiled Starline project for 3D telepresence and added augmented reality versions of athletes like Simone Biles, Megan Rapinoe and Naomi Osaka to research.
  • Space computing startup ARKH will launch a wearable augmented reality ring in early 2022 that will link to a hub and provide health screenings as well as potential AR purchasing capabilities.
