Penguins Announce 2022 “Kids Free Play” and Preseason Release Schedule

The Pittsburgh Penguins will kick off the 2022 preseason on Sunday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. against the Columbus Blue Jackets with their 10th annual “Free Game for Kids,” presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

As part of the festivities, the team will donate more than 18,000 tickets for this game to various youth organizations in the area, including several amateur hockey programs, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania and public school families in Pittsburgh. Youth will be incorporated into the game presentation throughout the afternoon, and there will be several DICK’S Sporting Goods Jr. game newbies who will represent various facets of Pittsburgh youth hockey.

Pittsburgh Local Market fans will have the chance to watch the “kids free game” via a live stream on Five of the six pre-season games will be broadcast in some form.

Pittsburgh regional rights holder AT&T SportsNet will air both exhibition contests against the Buffalo Sabers on Saturday, Oct. 1 at KeyBank Center and Friday, Oct. 7 at PPG Paints Arena.

In addition to the ‘Free Game for Kids’, Game 2 of the split-team contest against Columbus on Sunday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m., as well as when the Penguins take on the Detroit Red Wings at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. 00, will be broadcast on the Penguins website. Only fans who live in the local Pittsburgh/AT&T SportsNet area will be able to access the streams.
