Rumor: Myth of Empires has been removed from Steam after being accused of hacking by a company

Myth of Empires, a strategy game, has been removed from Steam due to copyright infringement complaints.

Angela Game employs a number of former Snail Games employees, according to the takedown request documents, and at least one of them has access to the source code for Ark: Survival Evolved.

Game creator Angela Game declined to reveal who requested the game’s takedown, although PC Gamer claims it is from Studio Wildcard and Snail Games, the producer and publisher of Ark: Survival Evolved.

The parallels between the two games, including identical gameplay elements, made Studio Wildcard “understandably anxious.” The creators claim to have discovered hundreds of corresponding class, variable and function names by comparing the code, indicating that the source code was used in Myth of Empires.

“Key employees of the Myth of Empires developer worked at the Chinese parent company of Snail Games USA Inc and at least one of them had the credentials to access the source code for Ark: Survival. Evolved. “

“Studio Wildcard and Snail Games USA Inc have a good faith belief that Myth of Empires was built by: (1) stealing the source code for Ark: Survival Evolved and (2) using the stolen source code as the game base for Myth of Empires, ”reads the complaint

This was presented to Valve on December 1 who quickly removed the game from Steam on December 3.

Angela Game has denied the allegations.

“Our development team solemnly declares: Angela Game fully owns all rights and property associated with Myth of Empires and will actively respond to any doubts or claims on this point,” the studio said on December 7. “We are in active contact with Steam and are doing our best to restore the game to their store. We apologize for the inconvenience to players.”

He continued in a statement on Twitter further: “While we are also frustrated with this situation, we still have faith that we will be able to resolve this situation in a timely manner and make the game available again to everyone. world.”
