Slime Rancher 2 Dev: “Xbox Game Pass was an easy decision for us”

Five years after the original arrived on Xbox, slime farmer 2 is officially available today as part of Xbox Game Preview and Xbox Game Pass, for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to speak to Nick Popovich, CEO of developer Monomi Park, about a variety of Slime Rancher 2-related topics, including the team’s delight in being featured in the part of Xbox Game Pass.

Here’s what he had to say when asked about the service:

“Microsoft has always been a great partner for us and seems to really ‘get’ Slime Rancher, so it was an easy decision for us. Along with Game Pass, I think it’s a great mechanism for smaller indies especially to reduce the risk taking a Game Pass deal, but for us I think the model complements our games, which we’ve been using for a long time.

Thus, maintaining an active player base allows us to continue to find an audience as we release one content update after another over a period of years. In my opinion, one of the best advertisements you can get for your game is those little notifications on every platform that tell you “Your friend Jane is now playing Slime Rancher”. It’s hard to beat.”

Popovich explained during our interview that there are “lots of new and exciting things planned” for the future of Slime Rancher 2 as it progresses through Xbox Game Preview, which seems like great news for Game Pass members!
