Soccer-Vardy strikes as Leicester sink Man United in 4-2 thriller

Leicester City ended their four-game losing streak in the Premier League as goals from Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu, Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka helped them secure a 4-2 home comeback against Manchester United on Saturday. With the score 2-2 late in the game, Vardy scored a stunning goal with the outside of his foot to cap a frantic five-minute spell before substitute Patson Daka put the icing on the cake for Leicester in the stoppage of play.

Mason Greenwood had given United a lead in the 19th minute when he unleashed a 20-yard thunderbolt that flew into the far corner as he skimmed the inside of the post. But the visitors were punished for a sloppy pass into the danger zone in the 31st as Kelechi Iheanacho stole the ball from Harry Maguire and squared it for Tielemans to hit the top corner with a looping shot at goalkeeper David From Gea.

A tame second half came to life when Soyuncu turned the tide with a close effort in the 78th minute before Marcus Rashford, returning from shoulder surgery in August, equalized for United in the 82nd. Less than 60 seconds later, however, substitute Ayoze Perez placed the ball in Vardy’s path and the forward gave De Gea no chance, before Daka took advantage of a poorer United defense to kick the ball to the far post.
