Vail Village has been converted to “Gear Town” for the duration of the GoPro Mountain Games. The streets are lined with 55 unique vendors, selling everything from dog accessories and popsicles to tricked motorhomes and e-bikes. If you are looking to spend some cash this weekend, you are sure to find a provider that matches your interests. Otherwise, the village is full of free SWAGs (Stuff We All Get) just waiting for you to bring them home. Here’s a guide to some of the free products and experiences available in Gear Town right now.
The village is above all a paradise for sticker collectors. You can collect over a dozen free stickers from vendors across town including Aviator Nation, Surf Colorado, Sterling, HEST, Revolution Popsicles, Adidas Terrex, and more. If you start on the west side of the village, you can grab a free tote bag from the Steadman Clinic tent to carry any gifts you find along the way. Across the street, you can prep your skin for a day in the mountain sun by taking a complementary pump of Sun Bum sunscreen.
If you have a four-legged friend, bring them! Pet food company Chewy has partnered with Mountain Dog Photography to deliver free, professional-looking pet portraits right in their tent. If you’re considering adding a new pet to the family, you can head to the Eagle County Animal Services vendor next door to play with adoptable puppies and grab a free doggy bag dispenser.
Visitors will have no trouble staying hydrated and energized in Gear Town with free samples of energy drinks available at the Rise Brewing and Runa booths. If you get hungry along the way, grab a granola bar in your favorite flavor from the Nature Valley vendor. A water barrel sponsored by the YETI company is installed next to Solaris Plaza for fresh water refills. Closer to the parking lot, the No Dirty Earth company also provides free refills of water taken from Gore Creek and filtered by its Rugged Water filtration system. Are you looking for something a little stronger? Tincup Mountain Whiskey serves free samples of bourbon near Solaris Plaza.
While many vendors hand out their SWAGs to all passers-by, some have you earning your free prize by playing a game. Mountain House Adventure Meals challenges you to throw five bags of cornhole into baskets worth one, two, and three points. . Depending on how many points you accumulate, you can take home a free sticker, hat, shirt or pouch from their portable adventure meals. Spin a wheel at Dave & Matt Vans to win a free coozie or sticker, or get discounts on their merchandise. Complete a peg set at Tecnu to bring home a waterproof hat or bag, along with a sample of their various anti-itch remedies.
There are also a variety of product experiences that visitors can enjoy during the day. The Bosch booth offers trials of its latest electric bikes, as well as drawstring bags and buffs for those who taste their product. Those with muscle tension can try out the HiDow Muscle Therapy Device, and athletes participating in GoPro Mountain Games can spend the day testing out a pair of Oakley sport sunglasses from their supplier.
Gear Town vendors will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information and a complete list of vendors and their locations, visit mountaingames.com/venues/gear-town.
